He might not think what you do, but he'll get you
thinking.

Josh has a way of writing and referencing stats but
keeping you involved and invested in his writing. He
keeps a good blend of seriousness and is still light
enough to enjoy reading. Keep up the good blogging
Josh.

The New Boston Sports Guy

June 13, 2009

In my review of Bill Simmons, I noted that he's past
his prime and his content just isn't as interesting as
it used to be. Well, luckily Josh Gans is a newcomer
who delivers a similar writing style from the sports
fan perspective. He's very rough around the edges but
if you can look past his rookie roughness, you'll find
a man who truly loves his sports teams, know his
sports, and loves sharing his passion with others.

While he's a stats geek through and through he also
brings a light hearted tone to his writing that is easy
to digest and fun to follow along. He makes pop culture
references but keeps it to a minimum so that they're
funny instead of irrelevant.

Also, unlike Bill Simmons, Josh Gans was born and
raised in the heart of Boston giving him that Boston
personality that is so tough for outsider to properly
mimic. If you love Boston sports, or just sports in
general and want to read about them from a true fan
with admitted biases, give Josh a shot. He's got
massive potential and I'm really looking forward to
seeing him evolve.

Disclosure: Josh is part of The 42nd Estate, a
company that he and I (and two others) co-founded.

Opinionated yet not closed minded.. very good writer

June 12, 2009

I met "Gansie" ha.. (I can't help it, since my playing
days I've just added and ie to the end of names!)
through Twitter when we were both kicking off our
sports blogs close to the same time. It's great to have
someone like him around considering we're both from
Boston and we both started this close to the same time.
His posts are very interesting and informative and I
look forward to reading him and keeping in touch with
him for a long time. Go get em Gansie!

Not as humorous as I anticipated, but asks probing
questions

May 27, 2009

One of our new users Adam P told me about Josh Gans's
sports blog. I got a chance to check it out and was
pretty impressed though not for reasons that Adam
brought up in his review. In particular, I liked the
discussion that Josh has on steroids in baseball and
the lively discussion that it generated.

I think this is a great blog for any avid Boston
sports fan. I don't follow the Red Sox (being a
Cincinnati Reds fan) but for BoSox fans, this is a good
addition to your daily read.
