San Francisco Magazine has called Alder "The Wine World's Brightest Cyberstar" and he is widely accepted as the pioneer of wine blogging. A blogger by night only, Alder spends his days as the Founder and Principal of HYDRANT, an interactive design and strategy consulting firm. In 2007 and 2008 Alder spoke at and moderated panels for the Symposium for Professional Wine Writers at Meadowood in Napa Valley, and will be conducting wine seminars at the 2008 Aspen Food and Wine Classic. He has also appeared as a panelist and speaker for events and organizations such as Wine 2.0, The Commonwealth Club, and the Churchill Club. He is currently a member of the editorial board for Sommelier Journal magazine, and is a member of the nominating committee for the Vintners Hall of Fame. Alder lives in San Francisco with his wife and daughter.

Description: This blog tells the story of a middle-aged married couple with left-wing, green, solartopian values---attempting to live an "off the grid" lifestyle. They are as "Primitive Green" as possible---building with logs cut or salvaged from their property, blue jean insulation, recycled tin, recycled barnwood, cob, adobe and strawbales. A few publications have been misguidedly foolish enough to feature Allan's writing including: The Mother Earth News, the socialist Monthly Review, Counterpunch, Earth Tree News, Homepower Magazine and the world famous Fillmore County Journal (whose payments provided beer money for Allan while going through nursing school). Joni has the distinction of having the longest prison sentence in Colorado for a treesit; having sat in a 400 year old Englemann Spruce (protecting some of the last ancient forests in the Rocky Mountains). Earth First!! Feel free to drop Allan a line at: Allan361@gmail.com with your stories, complaints, disgust, zeal, love, advice or just to say "Hi".

Description: Avid writer, photographer, and artist. Loving, kind, crazy, funny, serious, woman of God. Lover of God,lover of people. All about truth, love, and jesus. Not from this world. This is a great quote: "Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on: you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of — throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were going to be made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself." -CS Lewis
