Alder Yarrow

Vinography

#1 in Wine

Description:   Alder Yarrow graduated from Stanford University with time spent at Oxford. Always passionate about wine, he founded Vinography in 2003 when he realized that there were no wine blogs on the Internet. San Francisco Magazine has called Alder "The Wine World's Brightest Cyberstar" and he is widely accepted as the pioneer of wine blogging. A blogger by night only, Alder spends his days as the Founder and Principal of HYDRANT, an interactive design and strategy consulting firm. In 2007 and 2008 Alder spoke at and moderated panels for the Symposium for Professional Wine Writers at Meadowood in Napa Valley, and will be conducting wine seminars at the 2008 Aspen Food and Wine Classic. He has also appeared as a panelist and speaker for events and organizations such as Wine 2.0, The Commonwealth Club, and the Churchill Club. He is currently a member of the editorial board for Sommelier Journal magazine, and is a member of the nominating committee for the Vintners Hall of Fame. Alder lives in San Francisco with his wife and daughter.

The magic of wine

October 01, 2009

Alder Yarrow invites readers to get into the world of
wine. The first thing that caught my attention was to
dicover he offers a "Free Tasting Tool" to learn to
describe wine in ways that are meaningful and
memorable. I loved it.

Vinography: a wine blog includes an incredible wide
variety of information that lets you get to know about
events, books for wine lovers, and wine reviews, among
other amazing facts.

He has really managed to put the Art of Wine within
everybody's reach.

Wine info for the connoisseur and the novice

May 13, 2009

I enjoy wine but I am NOT a wine connoisseur. That
said - this author is AMAZING! I am very impressed with
the depth and breadth of info. I searched for several
things and found at least one article and an amazing
amount of information on each topic I looked for. For
example – I found a list of every ingredient that is
allowed in wine and what it is used for (I was just
looking for information on sulfites). A friend had
mentioned that the 2008 New Zealand Savignon Blancs
were good and had no added sulfites. Again, I hit pay
dirt – I even found a California winery whose owner
trained in New Zealand and produced wines with no added
sulfites! I have bookmarked this website and I am sure
I’ll go back !

A Glass of Sophistication

May 12, 2009

I was unaware that one could cover so many topics
pertaining to wine and still not sound redundant. Alder
Yarrow has managed this with his creation of
Vinography: A Wine Blog. Alder manages sophistication
with humor in his ease at relaying wine information.

In addition to enjoyable tales of stories involving
wine, Alder also posts personal experiences and
opinions. Vinography: A Wine experience is hailed as
one of the most influential wine blogs on the internet.
It also offers wine reviews and restaurant reviews,
wine news and wine event coverage.
