One Mom Among Many Going It Alone

July 25, 2010

I must confess a lack of objectivity regarding Chritine
Coppa’s blog, Storked! She, like me, is a single mom
in the most literal sense of the word (the so-called
“father” has no involvement in the lives of our
children what so ever). She is a solid writer who
candidly shares the fears, joys, frustrations,
backlash, limitations and laughs that are part of the
daily life of truly single parents. I am thankful to
know that there are others like me out there making an
enjoyable, positive life for themselves and their
children. The stories, advice and vulnerabilities that
she reveals to her readers provide hope and
encouragement to those who struggle with the aloneness
of abandonment.

A Mommy and More!

July 25, 2010

Christine Coppa blogs for Glamour under the heading
Storked! Daily Single Mom Blog. I was expecting to read
only day-to-day tales of single motherhood, but
Christine blogs on a much more diverse level. She
covers some news topics, particularly family in the
media, her life as a business woman, blogging as well
as the author of the book Rattled! which is based on
her blog. She also offers personal stories about her
and her son, everything from other mommies on the
playground to potty training. Overall I found her voice
fresh. Her writing style was engaging and her energy,
compassion and friendly personality shows through in
her posts.

Promoting self-care for single mamas

July 25, 2010

Now this is what I'm talking about! I'm a single mom
too but am sick of ONLY hearing about how to be good
moms. Christine, however, talks about how to take care
of ourselves too. YES! I totally agree. Mothers, but
especially SINGLE mothers need time to herself, to get
away and be with the girls. I am so glad she supports
this notion and gives humurous and fun tips in her
articles on how to do exactly that.
