Begs for Discussion in the Best Ways

July 22, 2009

Danny's blog has become my go-to site for breaking
commentary on the news of the social media and tech
world. Danny's ability to combine the news of the
online space with thought-provoking commentary that
invites people to engage in honest, back-and-forth
discussion is unparalleled. He also knows how to have a
little fun, and shows great appreciation for his
readership and online following on a regular basis. I
always feel welcome at Danny's little piece of the
Interwebs and have nothing but appreciation for the
vast amount of insight he has into the fields of PR,
marketing, and social media.

Bringing People Together

July 17, 2009

When I first started my progression to being a social
media guru, hmmm several months ago now, Danny Brown
was one of the first people I came across. It seemed
that everywhere I went, I saw the same avatar, a guy in
a funny cap who looked like he had stepped out of one
of those old style Hovis TV ads.

After I while I plucked up the courage to check out
his blog and I'm glad I did.

Danny Brown's brain seems to work a bit differently
to most people's, he sees things in ways that many
others miss. The stories on his blog are often quite
simple, but always cause me to question my own views -
make me think.

I like the way that Danny doesn't use his blog to
promote products or to fill it with advertising -
something that is becoming rare among the top social
media guys.

The one thing Danny does promote is the organization
he started 12for12k, a way for regular people to use
social media to help others.

When I think about it, I've met many of my favorite
people on Twitter through Danny Brown or 12for12k.
Danny seems to have a knack for bringing people
together and that is a great gift.

Others Before Himself

July 02, 2009

That's what Danny is about. He's an outright nice guy
that doesn't just show that with his Twitter activity
but with his writings on his personal blog. He writes
from the heart and tells the truth whether it's for his
12for12k cause, which he has done an amazing job at, or
talking about marketing and social media.

This guy is the *real* deal in the very sense of the
word.

* Selfless & Smart *

June 23, 2009

From the moment I got to know Danny, I immediately
recognized the fact that Danny has a big heart. His
12for12K effort is a tremendous idea and one that
mirros his sensibilities, bit as a writer and a human
being. And to top it off, he's a super smart PR
professional - the dude has a great arsenal to tap
into. I, for one, look forward to buying him a
margarita (sooner than later) to talk shop and sharing
a bit more from his trusty bag o'tricks.

Smart, Genuine and Visionary

June 22, 2009

You don't have to read Danny's blog for long before
realizing he's smart, genuine and a visionary. He
shares great insights on social media marketing that
are rooted in sound communications experience and
strategies. He's an all-around nice guy who genuinely
cares for people. And he thinks about our industry and
its future at a high level. Top it off with the fact
that he's a prolific blogger and you've got a great
blog to add to your reader.

one of the nice people

June 20, 2009

I don't mean to call Danny "nice" to slight him in
anyway, but it's the truth. He is one of the nicest
guys in this space. Always willing to help his
community. Always willing to help other people (see:
12for12k challenge). Oh, and by the way, keeps up a
pretty outstanding blog.

Insightful and Innovative

June 11, 2009

It’s kind of hard to think of just one word to
describe Danny Brown’s blog – so I’ll go with
two: insightful and innovative.

Insightful because he always gives me something to
think about. I have never encountered a blog as thought
provoking in social media, marketing and public
relations as Danny’s. He just has this knack for
thinking outside of the box.

For example, there is a weekly Twitter chat called
#Journchat, and recently Danny wrote a small piece
about it on his blog, asking if its lost its sparkle.
#Journchat is a highly successful Twitter chat that
yields many participants, in and out of the
Communications field. One of the main points of
Danny’s discussion was that, while #Journchat may
have started on Twitter, it is possible that it has now
out grown Twitter as its home. So much so, Twitter
cannot keep up with it.

Twitter, a real-time outlet, cannot keep up with
#Journchat? What?

I never thought about that before. How?

Well, according to Danny, #Jounchat should think
about moving to a message board type of platform where
each post can be seen, read and responded to in
threads. Where each participant can respond to the
questions at their leisure, staying on topic and more
organized. Or Danny suggested moving #Journchat to a
real chat room so that participants will not be left
behind and will see what is going on at the same time
– without the interference of Twitter application
lags and general Twitter lags.

That is innovative.

Who would have thought that in something ‘real
time’…well, needed more ‘real time’ or lack
thereof.

That’s what I’m talking about.

Danny Brown’s blog is insightful and innovative. I
know when I want a good read, I can count on Danny.

Smart and thought-provoking

June 09, 2009

Danny is one of those bloggers who consistently makes
me think. Whether it's a topic I haven't thought of
before, or a new take on something I have thought of,
there's always something insightful and useful about
Danny's posts. A highly recommended read.
