Josh Marshall, who has written for numerous
publications across the United States and abroad, digs
deeper into up-to-date news stories and reflects "the
freedom of expression of this genre of writing" in his
posts.
Through Talking Points Memo, considered "one of the
most popular and most respected sites" in the
blogosphere by The New York Times Magazine, he has
managed to go beyond his audience.
His "tenacious investigative reporting" has not only
attracted lots of followers who send daily comments but
has influenced the traditional news media.

Josh Marshall follows news stories sometimes up to the
minute which is sure to please most news junkies. His
well-sourced pieces reflect a strong respect for rule
of law and the Constitution. Unlike many news outlets
he doesn't take everything at face value and is willing
to dig a little deeper. He regularly posts comments of
his readers and gives them credit when necessary. In
this way his collaborative news gathering method has
become very influential and a model for many other news
blogs.

Not a day goes by when I don't check Josh's website.
TPM doesn't have the passion of, say, the Daily Kos,
but it's not as blindly partisan either. A good source
for breaking news from a progressive POV.

Into politics? Josh dishes out all the dirt on the
capitals heads. Entertaining and makes you want to keep
reading for more.

Josh Marshall utilizes neutral language to promote the
liberal cause at Talking Points Memo. He posts links
to video and opinion pieces posted elsewhere on the
web, but he writes with a journalistic approach, as
opposed to satire or vitriol. Marshall follows
breaking stories carefully, often posting multiple
times on the same topic, providing his readers with
updates and developments. His posts are generally
direct and succinct with links for further study.

Josh Marshall's TPM blog is generally really
comprehensive, if not super original. His blog covers
the news of politics, without that much commentary,
though with a decidedly liberal perspective. In my
opinion TPM was fantastic during the 2008 election,
with lots of great scoops and analysis, but hasn't
seemed to differentiate itself from other political
blogs in the time since.

Josh Marshall is a very well known name in political
blogging. And he hit a good business model before
Arianna Huffington even got started.
Josh' blog really took off when Bush' attorney
general was being stewed on Capitol Hill. No other
publication provided the kind of coverage that Josh'
did.
TPM, as it is widely known, has found a business
model, and is running with it. Old media is in pain.
New media can teach lessons for survival. TPM is one in
good standing, and can teach.
Josh is a successful new media entrepreneur, but at
heart he is a journalist, a writer, a blogger. He
writes left to center, and he writes well.
