I am not sure what more I can say about The Buzz than
it makes my day. Mike uses his unique style and
perspective to get his thoughts to the public.
I met Mike through Twitter and bonded over our past
experiences in sports. I don't think I have met anyone
else that drank beers with Urkel so that gets points as
well.
If you are looking for good insight into PR, Web 2.0
and social media, peep out Mike's blog.

So, like a few in his same boat, I came across Mike via
Twitter. He’s a sports PR guy, with a witty sense of
humor and he takes that to the next level on his blog
(C’mon now, I know you love his Spiderman mask as
much as I do!)
It’s hard to come up with just one word to describe
him, so I’ll go with ‘unique,’ unique-good.
Recently, Mike wrote a piece on his blog called “The
Death of PR.” In his piece he talked about how some
companies are actually devaluing public relations
during hard times. While, this is very true and really
is horrible for people in our field, Mike encourages
his readers to take their careers into their own hands
as PR pros and become well-rounded public relations
professionals. One can’t just rely on knowing how to
write a press release. So while, it might be exhausting
and could really over extend you if you aren’t
careful – it’s something to note.
I’ve found that this has been overlooked by my
peers. Mike stresses that we are dying race of
professionals – so to speak – where some of us need
a wakeup call in order to preserve our way of life, or
at least grow it into PR 2.0. While he doesn’t use
these words exactly, I definitely got that vibe from
his post, his other articles and generally the
conversations I’ve had with him and his tweets on
Twitter.
Sounds pretty dire, I know, but Mike makes an
excellent point and isn’t afraid to ‘call out’
the failings of his profession. No too many people in
our field would put that out there because of the
nature of what we do and the ‘images’ we are
suppose to project.
Even so, Mike is just amusing! So check him out!
